Here, women can build strength, confidence, and community, embracing the transformative power of boxing on their terms.
I stepped into the ring for my first amateur fight in Master Class—up against taller, stronger opponents and every obstacle along the way. The training was grueling, the weight cut unforgiving, and the doubts relentless. But every bruise and every round made me sharper, tougher, and more determined.
That fight wasn’t just about me—it was about proving that women belong in the ring. At Soul Good, we carry that same spirit: to fight with courage, to rise against the odds, and to dream bigger than anyone thinks possible.
Sam has been active her entire life, exploring everything from running, hiking, and snowboarding to rock climbing, swimming, and yoga. But when she first stepped into a boxing gym in 2017, something clicked. One training session with a coach was all it took—she was hooked. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and over the years she went from complete beginner to sparring in the ring.
Boxing had such a profound impact on her health and confidence that she made the bold decision to change careers after 20 years in IT, becoming a full-time personal trainer and boxing coach. Her mission now is to share the joy, empowerment, and life-changing benefits of boxing with others.
Sam is a graduate of Humber College’s Fitness Fundamentals Certificate program. She is a Registered Health and Exercise Practitioner (RHEP) with the Ontario Fitness Council, a Level 1 Certified Boxing Coach with Boxing Ontario, and a Certified Pilates Teacher through Mosaic Yoga.
In my previous life, I worked in the IT industry, juggling long hours and constant stress. I trained and exercised inconsistently, chasing quick-fix diets and hopping from gym to gym. My weight yo-yoed, my confidence sank, and I always put work and family ahead of my own health. Eventually, the neglect caught up with me—I struggled with depression, anxiety, and panic disorders because I had never truly taken care of myself.
Hitting rock bottom was my turning point. I made the decision to invest in my health—mind and body. That’s when I found boxing. The training was tough, but it was also fun, and every workout gave me a powerful sense of accomplishment. The endorphins became my natural medicine, helping me fight through depression. Step by step, I began to rebuild my life. I changed my diet, developed sustainable habits, and over time, I lost more than 40 pounds. Today, I’m stronger, healthier, and happier than I’ve ever been.
Because I’ve lived this transformation, I know what it feels like to struggle—and to rise again. My passion now is to help others experience their own breakthroughs, to build not just physical strength but confidence, balance, and joy.
For me, fitness isn’t just about how you look—it’s about how you live. It’s body, mind, and soul. And yes—you can be soul good.
